Meet the Team
Ann Hyde
I am a Roman Catholic and have been working with GRASSROOTS since 1999. I am responsible for the Working with Women of Different Faiths and Cultures project, supporting women across different backgrounds and encouraging them to engage more with the wider community. This is done by working in partnership with Ghar se Ghar, a Worker's Co-operative. I also teach Circle Dancing.
David Jonathan (Johny)
I am from Northwest India. I have been working in the voluntary sector since 1991, first with the YMCA in India (1991-2001) and then with GRASSROOTS in Luton (2001 - present). I am responsible for overseeing all projects and programmes. I work on Community Cohesion and Inter Faith Relations, in close partnership with Luton Council of Faiths. Our multi-faceted framework of events, programmes and activities testify our innovation and creativity in the way we seek to address, issues, needs and concerns affecting people’s lives locally.
Sr. Maire Hayes
I am a sister of the Congregation of the Daughters of the Holy Spirit. I have previously taught in secondary schools in Birmingham and Liverpool, and have also lived and worked for 22 years in Santiago, Chile. I am currently the interfaith coordinator for the Diocese of Northampton and am working in Luton with GRASSROOTS, with responsibility for the Spirituality of Justice project, themed 'A Spirituality that does Justice'. I am also a member of the executive of National Justice and Peace Network (NJPN).
Ryad Khodabocus
I am the Head of Community Relations & Development, employed by Luton Council of Faiths , which works in partnership with GRASSROOTS. My key focus is in the field of community development and inter-community relations and I have a background in science, social work, health psychology and management. I work with a vast network of individuals and groups and engage with various voluntary and statutory sector organisations in Luton.
